Blue Spotted Wood-Dove

I have been out with a lot of bird watchers to look for this bird fortunately some people have seen and add this to their list and some who are very lucky shot some photos.My first patch for the Blue Spotted Wood-Dove was Muirhead Dams but now I have another reliable spot Thohoyandou Nature Reserve for the Dove right in Thohoyandou town 80 kilometers to Punda Maria Gate.This is the best ever sightings of
Blue Spotted Wood-Dove and reliable spot for the Dove I have got so far.

Other special birds special birds in the reserve include Pink Throated Twinspot Green Twinspot,Grey Cuckooshrike,Narina Trogon,Eastern Nicator,Scaly Throated Honeyguide,Red Capped Robin Chat,Gorgeous Bushshrike.

White Backed Night-Heron

Over the past months June and July we had a good sightings of White Backed Night-Heron at one of the private dams Springfield farms.We had a regular sightings of a pair sitting together.Apart from the good sightings we saw a nest nearby where they were roosting as well.Luvuvhu River is also a reliable site for African Finfoot as well.My previous several visit to the dam we had a number of superb views of a pair of African Finfoot.There is a clear indication that we have more than one as we last time we saw two male chasing each other.Other birds in the list include Half Collared Kingfisher,African Black Duck,African Fish Eagle and the riverine species like Narina Trogon:
